About Us

Crossing Point Christian School is a ministry of First Christian Church, McKinney, Texas.  The school was started in 1993 and was the vision of Rev. Bobby Cook, the senior minister at that time.  Rev. Cook, along with a committee of lay people and the first director Kelly Close, wanted to provide a school that would serve McKinney and the surrounding communities.

Crossing Point continues to follow that vision today.  We strive to meet the needs of individual children and their families within our community; accepting the uniquness of each child as God created them.  Helping them to grow academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally is the primary goal of our school and its staff.

Our team staff consists of 25 staff members, including teachers, assistants and adminsitration.  The average tenure for the staff is 8 years providing both experience and consistency for families.

Our Philosophy

We are dedicated to the philosophy that young children grow in an orderly and sequential manner with predictable stages of development. We recognize that each child is unique and accept each child at their current stage of development. It is our intention to nurture the development of the whole child — physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual growth.

The program shall provide each child with age appropriate experiences, which will encourage:
                    • Self-esteem and positive self-image
                    • Social interaction
                    • Self-expression and communication skills
                    • Creative expression
                    • Large and small muscle development
                    • Intellectual growth
                    • Spiritual development

The program schedule shall be planned to provide a flexible balance of:
                     • Active and quiet activities
                     • Individual and group activities
                     • Indoor and weather permitting outdoor activities

Parent Testimonials

What do our Parents have to say?

"I LOVE Crossing Point Christian School because it offers EVERYTHING I am looking for in a preschool.  As a certified elementary teacher, it is very important to me for my child to have some structure in a no pressure learning environment, as well as creative play time in a fun environment.  As a stay-at-home mom, it is very important to me that the teachers genuinely care for the children and provide a nurturing environment, as well as foster the learning of values during these early formative years.  CPCS is not too large and overwhelming, it offers a low student teacher ratio and the Director, as well as the teachers, are always accessible."
-Yolanda Andrews, Crossing Point mom for a second year

"Crossing Point Christian School is awesome!  I really appreciate the fact that my kids got a great jump start on the education in a Christian environment."
-Kim Altizer, Crossing Point mom for 8 years

"I feel Crossing Point Christian School is a superior school, with a superior staff and absolutely wonderful hearts for the children.  There are not enough words to describe how much my husband and I love and appreciate Crossing Point.  The staff and teachers are excellent.  It is so comforting to now that I can take my child to school, he is safe, he is learning, and most of all that he LOVES it.  This has been the best investment we have made in our children's lives.  One of the aspects of the school that I love and appreciate is the fact that if your child has a problem, the staff wors with the parents.  The child is not just "written off".  YOu always have great advice and truly care about the children.  I can tell that this is not just a "job" for the staff and teachers; this is truly something every person loves, cares and is passionate about."
